PARSEME shared task 9 April 2016 User guides for the pre-selected annotation tools by Federico Sangati Here are the instruction on how to run the two tools, FLAT and TELEGRAM-BOT FLAT 1- Download the Pilot2_ST_English_FoLiA.zip corpus files from here (http://tiny.cc/flatCorpus) or here (http://typo.uni-konstanz.de/parseme/images/shared-task/meetings/2016-04-07-Struga-Annotathon/Pilot2_ST_English_FoLiA.zip) and extract the 5 files (the corpus of 200 sentences long and the 4 batches of 50 sentences each). 2- Go to http://flat.science.ru.nl and create an account 3- Login into FLAT selecting 'PARSEME Demo' in the Configuration 4- Press on 'Upload Document' and select the first batch, i.e., Pilot2_ST_English_01.folia.xml or the full corpus, i.e., Pilot2_ST_English_ALL.folia.xml 5- Start editing it: press on a word and add a MWE category in the popup window. If you need to select more than a word press the button 'Select span> next to the dropdown menu with the categories and select additional words. Any annotation you add is automatically saved in the system even if you logout and login again (although you may want to make sure if this is always the case). 6- When you are done testing with the first file, repeat the steps 4-5 for the remaining 4 files. TELEGRAM-BOT 1- Go to http://web.telegram.org/ and create an account (you need a mobile phone number but do NOT need a smart phone). Optionally you can download the native Telegram application for your device (PC, Tablet or Phone) in your AppStore, or at https://telegram.org/ and do the registration procedure from there. (You can also use different Telegram programs at different times or simultaneously, as everything is guaranteed to be synchronized.) 2- In the top-left corner, in the Search text field, type 'Parseme_Bot' and select the contact with the icon of a robot with a red jersey. 3- You can optionally click on 'Settings' to change basic display options (highlighting, number of characters per line, etc.) 3- From the 'Initial Screen', click on English and start annotating following the instructions. Any annotation you add is automatically saved in the system even if you logout and login again (although you may want to make sure if this is always the case).
