PARSEME SC meeting per video-conference (the meeting was recorded) Participants: Cvetana, Veronika, Victoria, Adam, Manfred, Mike, Yannick, Agata Absent: Miriam 14 January 2015 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. (GMT+1) ===== 1. Poster selection for Malta - 7 posters with primary WG1 (2 to still be rejected) - 5 posters with primary WG2 - 7 posters with primary WG3 (5 to still be rejected) - 3 posters with primary WG4 (graded A or B, for balance reasons) - which selection procedure next time (because of the raising number of submissions)? * Mike: more formal criteria are needed * Victoria: a real PC, EasyChair space, anonymous submissions would be more serious * Manfred: OK for anonymous submissions, PC or small reviewing groups per WG * Yannick: OK for EasyChair * Agata: we'll define precise modalities for Iasi in Malta ===== 2. Contributors to the WG1 volume to be invited to Malta - proposal: at least 1 co-author per chapter - the following authors are MC members so will be invited anyway: * Manfred Sailer (submission 1) * Lars Borin (submission 2) * Aggeliki Fotopoulou (submission 5) * Cvetana Krstev, Svetla Koeva (submission 7 and 12) * Stella Markantonatou (submission 10) * Verginica Mititelu (MC substitute, submission 11) * Petya Osenova, Kiril Simov (submission 15) - I would also expect * Carla Parra Escartin (submission 3) to be invited due to her active participation in PARSEME. - This leaves submissions 4, 8, 9, 13 and 14 uncovered yet. - Special case of Submission 6: if none of the authors (Ho Jia Qian, Francis Bond, Dan Flickinger, Christiane Fellbaum) is from our COST countries, we cannot fund them (even if they are from Stanford). ===== 3. STSMs - Cvetana has proposed an STSM policy (STSM reimbursement rates per country, etc.) - we'll discuss it in Malta - 2 new applications (Hellan and Mascarell) * Mascarell - should rephrase her latter to make relevance to PARSEME more explicit, and fill in the working plan - next deadline should be fixed more in advance (at least 3 days before the SC meeting) - increase the grants previously approved for Tzortzi and Fiotaki - decrease the grant approved for Wehrli (proportionally to the initially planned period) - advertise STSMs at the Training School in Prague next week - Cvetana will prepare an update on Hellan, Mascarell, Tzortzi, Fiotaki and Wehrli within several days - we'll decide on all the 5 cases per email ===== 4. WG progress report - successes and difficulties so far * WG1: volume submissions (20) were very satisfactory; some great papers had to be rejected (did not fit to the objectives of the volume) but other WGs might be interested in them * WG3: current activity - survey subgroups on hybrid methods; each has submitted a poster * WG4: current activity - overview of MWE annotations in treebanks; Wiki table on MWEs in treebanks (redesigned after discussions); expected outcome: recommendations * WG2: motivation of some members; nice discussions in Frankfurt - difficulties * WG4 - refilling the table is not really happening (but must be done before Malta) * WG2 - maintaining contact among members in between meetings is difficult - methodology for the WG sessions in Malta * WG1: as before: joint sessions and subgroups (lexical resources, chapter for the volume) * WG3: sessions organized around 3 surveys/posters (discovery, translation, parsing) * WG4: presentations, subgroup sessions - groups of languages in the table to compare + summary * WG2: subgroups, maybe on questions arising from Frankfurt ===== 5. Update on the MUMTTT workshop to be co-organized by PARSEME - budget proposal: reimbursement of 20 participants and 1 invited speaker; probably 90 EUR accommodation per night. - ideas of invited speakers: Kathrin Steyer (the President of Europhras), Dimitra Anastasiou, Dobrovolskij ===== 6. Year 3 budget - the list of events, numbers of participants and their balance wrt. STSMs seem OK for everybody ===== 7.
