Minutes from the PARSEME SC meeting per video-conference Victoria, Cvetana, Albert Gatt (on behalf of Mike), Adam, Manfred, Pavel, Yannick, Agata Miriam unavailable 17 January 2014 ================= 1. BUDGET PROGRESS REPORT - Year 1 (June 2013 - May 2014) planned budget: 161,400 € - Budget spent in 2013: 46,038 €, remaining for Jan-May 2014: 114,114 € - we have largely underspent our 2013 budget - we can reimburse at least 60-80 people for Athens and 25 for Gothenburg 2. POSTER SUBMISSIONS FOR ATHENS - we admit all 43 submissions as posters - we encourage 2 late submissions by Gosse Bouma (WG4) and Monika Czerepowicka (WG1) - we refuse all other late submissions (if any) - we organize 2 poster sessions instead of one, so that the presenters can also see other posters; we mix the WGs within one session - after the meeting we upload the posters + abstracts online - for the following calls we insist on the necessity of putting glosses and translations of the examples - notifications are sent to the authors by the WG leaders (according to the "primary" WG the poster was submitted for); each notification reminds the authors that at least one author should register at the attendance poll (http://doodle.com/cprdb5cyrqueiet6) 3. HOTELS IN ATHENS - the SC agrees to lower the hotel reimbursement rates - proposal: 95 € per person per night (Divani Hotel 80 €, Herodion 70 €, Philippos 55 €), MC can send objections until next Monday - priority should be given to Divani booking (25 rooms at least must be booked if the conference rooms are to be offered for free) 4. WG BRAINSTORMING SESSIONS - WG4 - Victoria will think about contacting potential presenters (2-3) who have MWEs annotations in their treebanks to show some examples; this should trigger a discussion - WG3 - Mike and Albert have already invited 2 presenters to speak about the "hybrid" nature of linguistic processing - WG2 - Yannick is still uncertain about the scope of WG2 wrt. WG1 and WG3; he finds it difficult to trigger a discussion in this WG; in a later bilateral discussion we mentioned possible presenters, and also the possibility of a common session with WG2 (showing concrete examples of a grammar and a MWE in a lexicon and how both collaborate) - WG1 - Manfred does not plan particular invited presentations; the people present at the session should be enough to provide examples and trigger a discussion 5. WME-EACL WORKSHOP - an invited speaker is needed, maybe from the Construction Grammar? - the workshop is the last event in the budget year; the number of the reimbursed people can be decided on the basis of the remaining budget - reimbursement policy: presenters of the special track session, ESRs, Action members, other COST relevant country members, no formal PARSEME membership required because of budget availability - proposed application procedure: ° candidates send their name, country, affiliation, ESR status, scientific interests and achievements related to MWEs and/or parsing (several sentences) ° to whom ? (MC chair? SC?) ° deadline: 28 February (notification of paper acceptance: 20 February) ° validating reimbursement applications (when? by whom?) ° notification: 10 March (when the number of participants to Athens in known) or 21 March (when the Athens spent budget is more or less known) 6. 2015 TRAINING SCHOOL IN PRAGUE - the proposal is still valid (dates: 5-9 January, or 12-16 January 2015) - an MC vote will be done at the MC meeting in Athens - after that we'll start working on the contents of the courses 7. STSMs - the pending proposal (by Piotr Sikora) to be discussed per email 8. WEBSITE: - a HowToGuide is ready (see attached file), it will also be uploaded on the website - the WG leaders may now fill in the WG data ° a short description of the WG at http://typo.uni-konstanz.de/parseme/index.php/organization/working-groups ° a separate new page for each WG, similar to http://typo.uni-konstanz.de/parseme/index.php/2-general/51-wg-1-lexicon-grammar-interface - the list of members filled in automatically with the data sent to WG leaders will be hard to achieve; a static (regularly updated) list is probably necessary 9. NEXT MEETING - Athens, probably on Tuesday 11/03 PM ================ Undiscussed issue: 10. WG PROGRESS REPORT ° WG2 and WG4 vice-leaders ° WG wiki spaces ° coordinating parseme-wg and parseme-all lists ================ TO DO: All: - if you know an expert of the Construction Grammar that could be an invited speaker at the MWE workshop, send a contact to Agata WG leaders: - by Wednesday (22 Jan): sent out the notifications about the poster submissions (including the 2 late submissions), remind about the attendance poll (http://doodle.com/cprdb5cyrqueiet6) - within a month: Victoria, Mike and Yannick - fill in the contents of the webpages on WGs Agata: - in Athens: ask the poster authors for the poster files and short abstracts - discuss (partly per email and partly in Athens) the MWE-EACL workshop reimbursement applications - discuss the reorganization of the website STSM pages with Cvetana and Maike - find a solution for the members' list
