PARSEME SC meeting per video-conference 25 June 2015 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Paris time) Participants: Cvetana, Jakub, Manfred, Veronika, Victoria, Agata Absent: Adam, Manfred, Mike (last 15 minutes), Miriam, Yannick (replaced by Jakub) 1. Poster selection for Iasi (general meeting) - Adam and Agata proposed to accept 17 papers based on the reviews and scores; - there were potential formal obstacles concerning 3 papers and the SC was asked to express their views * paper 7 - one of the reviewers states that the contents has already been presented at the WME workshop in Gothenburg; since this was not a PARSEME meeting (but an event co-organised by PARSEME) and the quality of the submission is fine, we decide to admit the paper * paper 23 - some parts of the result table are missing (they are marked as "to be completed"); because other admitted posters don't always present numerical results, we don't reject this poster on this ground; it is accepted * paper 26 - the summary is 3 pages long instead of 2; we propose to reject this abstract for the formal reason - we all agree that the poster selection based on PC reviews is much better than the previous procedure; it is more serious and transparent; it brings more involvement from the action members; decision making is made easier; we intend to keep these modalities for the following meetings - we evoked the unbalanced attribution of posters to WGs; Victoria proposes specifying it as a requirement that we expect WG1 posters to be also relevant to other WGs; we should encourage people to examine the connections of their work with WGs other than "per default"; we might discuss this issue in Iasi 2. Program for the Iasi general meeting - validated by the SC - rooms needed for the WG sessions: WG1 - 1 room, WG2 - one room, WG3 - one room, WG4 - one or two rooms - update on the invited speaker to Iasi, Mike Dillinger: he was sent SOA references to adapt his presentation to our understanding of MWEs; he should send a summary of his talk before the holidays 3. Contributors to the WG2 sessions to be invited to Iasi (general meeting) - WG2 sessions will feature hands-on tutorials on * XMG, a platform for creating meta-grammars, by Simon Petitjean and Timm Lichte * a follow-up on the mwetoolkit, by Carlos Ramisch and/or Sylvio Cordeiro - two of these presenters will be funded as poster presenters anyway - one or two will need to be funded extra - the SC agrees to this funding 4. Methodology for the WG sessions in Iasi - WG2: two tutorials + a short discussion on the book on representing challenging MWEs in grammars (one chapter per a challenging MWE example) - WG1: * session 1 - report on the hands-on workshop in Iasi, * session 2: presentations on classifications of MWEs for English and their adaptability to other languages (3-4 people from WG1) + discussion - WG4: folow-up of the Valletta sessions (revisions of the treebank table, and the book plans, should be started before the meeting) - WG3: follow-up on SOA reports, bringing the 3 parts together 5. Update on the WG1 workshop in Iasi - schedule ready, reading material sent out, feedback from Jan Odijk expected 6. STSM requests - all three applications are validated - Jelena Mitrovic should complete her application with details on the expected outcome of her STSM - this should also become a general requirement for future STSM applications (to be published on the website) 7. Update on the dissemination paper for LTC 2015 - the draft, job split and section sizes are available at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1A_iGqxUb8_gr3rf5YL1DS2BmohnG3hSY4gxQPPXB03E/edit - some parts have already been completed - all contributors should fill in their (short) parts until 20 August; Adam will then deal with unifying the vocabulary and proof-reading 8. WG progress report - WG4 - not much activity since Valletta, to be updated soon - WG1 - resource survey shared with ENeL: progress in event planning (including Struga); restructuring the MWE template on the Wiki done; contributions for the edited volume expected for August (to be sent to external reviewers) - WG2: some progress on the book (contacts with the publisher to be completed before Iasi) 9. Next meeting: Iasi, 23 September 2015 (first day, 17:00-18:30) ==== TODO: All: - fill in the dissemination paper section until 20 August Adam: - send out notifications to poster authors, remind them about marking the relevant WGs in their abstracts/posters Cvetana: - inform the STSM applicants - inform new applicants (on the website and per email) that the workplan should include a short section about the expected outcomes Agata: - publish these minutes - publish the list of accepted posters (and the selection rate: 70%) - publish the Iasi program - inform Corina about the rooms needed for the WG sessions
