Prosodic variation in the production and perception of rhetorical questions in German<\/h5>\n<h5><strong>Visitors<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5>Krishna Parajuli from Kathmandu is staying with us from from July 1st till August 17th. Schiller at the University of Leiden (NL) in the autumn semester 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katharina Zahner<\/strong>\u00a0(P6) was one of the winners of the Zukunftskolleg\u2019s mentorships. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-konstanz.de\/zukunftskolleg\/support-measures\/mentorship\/\">https:\/\/www.uni-konstanz.de\/zukunftskolleg\/support-measures\/mentorship\/<\/a> and is now an associated fellow at the Zukunftskolleg. Together with her proposed mentor, Prof. Anne Cutler (MARCS Institute, University of Western Sydney), she will be working on a project entitled &#8220;Towards promoting awareness for the teaching and learning of prosody in a foreign language\u201d. Prof. Cutler will be visiting her mentee for one week in June 2020. At the end of the visit, there will be a related workshop \u201cTiPToP: \u201cTrends in pedagogical transmission of prosody\u201d on June 24-25. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ling.uni-konstanz.de\/en\/tiptop\/\">https:\/\/www.ling.uni-konstanz.de\/en\/tiptop\/<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katharina Zahner\u00a0<\/strong>(P6) was granted one of four\u00ac\u2020G\u221a\u2202sta Bruce Scholarships\u00ac\u2020for ICPhS 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jana Neitsch<\/strong> <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.labphon.org\/sponsored_events\/JanaNeitschPaPE2_2017-06_14.jpeg\">(Bild)<\/a> is one of two winners of the Best Student Paper Award at the second <a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/pape2017.uni-koeln.de\/\">Phonetics and Phonology in Europe (PaPE) <\/a>conference in K\u00f6ln, 12-14 June 2017. She won the award for <strong>best oral<\/strong> presentation.<br \/><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/labphon.org\/sponsored_events\/PaPE2017_AcceptedAbstract_Neitsch.pdf\">&#8220;<i class=\"\">Who likes liver?<\/i>How German speakers use prosody to mark questions as rhetorical&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Marianne Kusterer<\/strong> (P6) is one of the winners of the IPA student award at the <a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/pape2017.uni-koeln.de\/\">Phonetics and Phonology in Europe (PaPE)<\/a> conference in K\u00f6ln, 12-14 June 2017. She won the award for her MA-thesis<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dgfs.de\/de\/aktuelles\/2017\/wvh-2017.html\">Wilhelm von Humboldt-Preis f\u00fcr Dr. Tina B\u00f6gel<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Das Werk sei beispielhaft in seiner Verkn\u00fcpfung von innovativer Modellierung und bestechender empirischer Analyse\u201a hei\u00dft es in der Laudatio der Deutschen Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Sprachwissenschaft (DGfS). Die W\u00fcrdigung gilt der Doktorarbeit <strong>\u201aThe Syntax-Prosody Interface in Lexical Functional Grammar\u201a<\/strong>\u00a0von Dr. Tina B\u00f6gel (<a href=\"https:\/\/typo.uni-konstanz.de\/questionsInterfaces\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Tina_DGfS.pdf\">Bild<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Die Konstanzer Sprachwissenschaftlerin<br \/>erhielt auf der DGfS-Jahrestagung in Saarbr\u00fccken daf\u00fcr den Wilhelm von Humboldt-Preis. Der Preis wird j\u00e4hrlich f\u00fcr die beste linguistische Nachwuchsarbeit vergeben. Er ist mit 2.000 Euro dotiert.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Die Arbeit von Tina B\u00f6gel entwickelt ein Modell der Prosodie-Syntax- Schnittstelle, das F\u00e4lle fehlender \u00dcbereinstimmung zwischen syntaktischer und prosodischer Gliederung \u00fcberzeugend erfassen kann&#8221;, hei\u00dft es in der Laudatio weiter. Im Zentrum der Dissertation der Nachwuchswissenschaftlerin steht das Spannungsverh\u00e4ltnis zwischen Syntax und Prosodie, die Worte einer Sprache nach unterschiedlichen Regelsystemen zusammengruppieren. So werden zum Beispiel die zwei Worte \u201aWei\u00dft du?&#8221; in der Syntax als unterschiedliche Einheiten gesehen, in der Aussprache aber zusammengezogen: \u201aWei\u00dfte?&#8221; oder \u201aweisch?&#8221; Dieses Spannungsverh\u00e4ltnis wird in der Arbeit anhand einer Reihe von Beispielen aus verschiedensten Sprachen (Degema, Paschto, Hochdeutsch und Schw\u221a\u00a7bisch) genauer beleuchtet und schlussendlich aufgel\u00f6st.<\/p>\n<p>Der Nachwuchspreis der Deutschen Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Sprachwissenschaft pr\u00e4miert herausragende Doktorarbeiten, die in methodischer, theoretischer oder inhaltlicher Hinsicht bedeutende Beitr\u00e4ge zur linguistischen Forschung darstellen und sich f\u00fcr die weitere Forschung als wegweisend erweisen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n<p>Tina B\u00f6gel ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Fachbereich Sprachwissenschaft der Universit\u00e4t Konstanz und in der Forschergruppe \u201aQuestions at the interfaces\u201a.
