Cholan-Tzotzlian and Yucatecan groups (Mayan) have added an allophonic rule: b”-> p’ / _ {sonorant/fricative},(where b” = imploded, p’ = ejective (glottalized)).These languages violate Greenberg’s rule on the surface level, but still conform on the underlying level. Campbell (1980: 22) questions if these are true “violations” or not.
