When the plural allomorphs are morphologically conditioned in a language, and the conditioning depends on whether the word belongs to one or another semantically transparent class, the class will often be defined in terms of the features in the split plural hierarchy.

When there are plural allomorphs conditioned by semantically transparent classes of nouns, these classes will typically be defined along the Split Plural Hierarchy.
